In 1942 Georgian academician Shalva Nutsubidze has identified Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, the author of the set of works commonly referred to as the Corpus Areopagiticum, with Peter the Iberian, a Georgian Orthodox saint and prominent figure in early Christianity. Unfortunately because of the language barrier Shalva Nutsubidze's works on the question remain unknown to many Western scholars.
